# 1: Top Ranked Stories

“We are all going to die someday.”  -- A quote from one of the most incredible stories ever linked to this blog and now in fifth place for 'most read' article at the NY Times. Also - the LA Times helps answer the question, who is paying attention to the environment - in this article, now in third place for 'most read.'

If there's a trend this morning among the top ranked stories in papers from around the globe then the likely contender is the economy again and its political fallout. The NY Times, Telegraph and Irish Independent all have number one 'most read' articles on that subject. The rest - well, celebrities, people acting badly - you be the judge.

We've also just added the CS Monitor for the daily review of top ranked articles. Enjoy!

Each morning we attempt to understand what drives people's curiosity and attention.  This segment uses the simple metric of 'most viewed' articles - a feature on the home-pages of many newspapers. We examine newspapers from across the English speaking world.

If you have an answer to the questions - what drives people's attention? And - should we be attending to something else - if so, how? Then please comment below. Thanks.
