# 1: Top Ranked Stories

Got Milk? Got Greed? Got No Scruples? Got Our Government.

If there's an article that could help unite American liberals and some conservatives - it's the number one most read article on the NY Times site at the moment. As the piece illustrates, government seems less concerned with your health than the health of some of the biggest corporations in America.  Not much of a surprise - and it partly explains the enormous problem of inequality in the US. To read more about inequality, see the second most popular article on the NY Times site at the moment. The question though is - how do we best act on this information?

Obama's visit to Asia remains a trend this week in the top spot, as well as news on Qantas. But beyond that - this week we've seen a number of celebrities caught in strange sex stories, (and in the second most read article on the Telegraph we also learn about the wild life of Sweden's King). Sex still sells.

Each morning we attempt to understand what drives people's curiosity and attention. This segment uses the simple metric of 'most viewed articles' - a feature on the home-pages of many newspapers. We examine newspapers from across the English speaking world.

If you have an answer to the questions - what drives people's attention? And - should we be attending to something else? If so - how? - then please comment below.
