# 1: Top Ranked Stories

Today's number one 'most read' articles don't reveal any particular trend, with the possible exception, unfortunately, of a number of violent stories. Beyond that, like other recent posts, Obama and the economy remain top news contenders. And there are of course several outliers. See the full list below.

Interestingly, at the number two spot for 'most read' articles in the Telegraph is a piece that has received surprisingly less interest in the American media - it's a piece about an unexplained missile launch near Los Angeles.

Each morning we attempt to understand what drives people's curiosity and attention. This segment uses the simple metric of 'most viewed articles' - a feature on the home-pages of many newspapers. We examine newspapers from across the English speaking world.

If you have an answer to the questions - what drives people's attention? And - should we be attending to something else? If so - how? - then please comment below.
